Teimour Nasirov, MD, MBA
Here is the first-person version, written naturally for a lecture introduction or speaker bio:
I am a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon at Sutter Medical Center Sacramento and Stanford University School of Medicine. My clinical and academic work focuses on congenital heart surgery and on advancing surgical techniques that reduce operative trauma while preserving excellent outcomes for children with complex heart disease.
I completed my residency in general surgery at the University of North Dakota. During residency, I developed a strong interest in cardiothoracic surgery, drawn by the field’s technical complexity and the opportunity to make an immediate, life-saving difference for critically ill patients.
I later completed advanced training in cardiac surgery at Loma Linda University, where I had the privilege of working under Leonard Bailey, a pioneer in infant heart transplantation. I then pursued fellowship training in congenital heart surgery at Stanford University and trained alongside leading surgeons including V. Mohan Reddy and Frank Hanley.
My work today centers on developing minimally invasive surgical strategies, including approaches that use smaller incisions, enhanced visualization, and refined operative techniques to improve recovery, reduce postoperative pain, and minimize long-term musculoskeletal impact for children undergoing congenital heart surgery.
