Geoffrey Krampitz, MD, PhD, FACS, FSSO

Geoffrey W. Krampitz, MD, PhD, FACS, FSSO is a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist specializing in hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) and complex gastrointestinal cancers. He serves as Chair of the Department of Surgery at Sutter Health Mills-Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame, California, and practices within the Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group.
Dr. Krampitz received his undergraduate training in biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins University and completed the MD–PhD program at Stanford University School of Medicine, where his doctoral research focused on stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. He completed residency training in general surgery at Stanford and fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Prior to joining Sutter Health, he served on the faculty at Thomas Jefferson University, where he specialized in hepatopancreatobiliary and gastrointestinal cancer surgery. His clinical practice focuses on pancreatic, liver, biliary, upper gastrointestinal, colorectal, and peritoneal surface malignancies, with particular expertise in advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques. Dr. Krampitz has been recognized as a Robotic Master Surgeon and maintains active academic interests in translational oncology and biomarker-driven treatment strategies for gastrointestinal malignancies. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in cancer biology, metastasis, and surgical oncology.
