Neuroscience Grand Rounds brings together neurologists, neurosurgeons, psychologists, rehabilitation specialists, and allied health professionals to explore the cutting edge of brain and nervous system care. Each session features case presentations, emerging research, and expert dialogue on the latest advances in diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes. This series of lectures is designed to foster collaboration across disciplines and reflects the shared commitment to translating science into exceptional neurological care.

Learning Objectives: 

At the completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Describe the neurological aspects of autism and identify key EEG findings and sleep-related characteristics associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • Explain the role of genetics in autism and summarize evidence indicating that approximately 30–50% of autism risk is attributable to genetic factors.
  • Recognize and explain autism as a heterogeneous condition by describing the multiple biological and environmental contributors rather than a single causal mechanism.
  • Evaluate the scientific evidence regarding autism etiology and state clearly that vaccines do not cause autism.
  • Assess current research on medical therapies for autism and conclude that there is no evidence supporting the effectiveness of leucovorin as a treatment for core autism features.
