Series Description:
The Psychiatric Grand Rounds is an educational series designed to improve psychiatric, psychological, and social work practice, including patient care, education, and public health. Relevant case studies are presented to promote active learning strategies. These presentations are open to all mental health professionals including students.

Session Objectives:
After Attending this Activity, Learners Should be Able to:
- Describe the mechanisms by which certain pharmacologic agents intended to reduce suicide risk may paradoxically contribute to suicidal behaviors.
- Explain the role of akathisia in the development of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI)–associated suicidality.
- Analyze clinical case examples of SSRI-associated suicide to identify contributing pharmacologic and patient-related factors.
