Session Description:

Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for chronic insomnia. This presentation will focus on the behavioral interventions that are central to CBT-I, including practical strategies to improve sleep habits and address behaviors that contribute to insomnia.

Session Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Describe the principles and core components of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I).
  • Apply psychoeducation and evidence-based sleep framing strategies to promote healthy sleep behaviors and improve sleep function.
  • Identify ways to support psychotherapists and psychiatrists providing CBT-I as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to insomnia care.
