Description:

Staying current with emerging evidence is essential to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. This interdisciplinary activity provides healthcare professionals with an opportunity to critically evaluate contemporary medical literature, discuss the applicability of new research findings to diverse patient populations, and explore how evidence-based recommendations can be translated into clinical decision-making. Through collaborative discussion, learners will examine the impact of health equity, social determinants of health, and patient-centered care principles on the interpretation and application of clinical evidence in practice.

Target Audience:

Pharmacists (PharmD)

Physicians (MD or DO)

Other Healthcare Professionals

Session Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Review the efficacy and safety of enlicitide, a first-in-class oral PCSK9 inhibitor, for lowering LDL cholesterol and other atherogenic lipoproteins in patients with established or high-risk atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
  • Evaluate the potential clinical role of oral PCSK9 inhibition as an alternative to injectable lipid-lowering therapies, including its impact on achieving guideline-recommended LDL cholesterol targets.
  • Formulate an evidence-based management plan across the PE care continuum
  • Apply the new AHA/ACC Acute PE Clinical Categories to classify severity, estimate prognosis, and select initial management for adult patients (≥18 years) with acute PE, integrating hemodynamic status, right ventricular assessment, and adjunctive cardiovascular testing.

Providing Culturally Appropriate Care which is Free of Implicit Biases (AB 1195 & 241):

Learners are strongly encouraged to engage in self-directed learning related to the impact of implicit biases in this clinical area via the references provided below:
