Description: 

This monthly interdisciplinary dementia case conference uses complex and challenging clinical cases to enhance participants' knowledge of neurodegenerative disorders and cognitive syndromes. Neurologists, neuropsychologists, and nurse practitioners review clinical and psychosocial history, diagnostic findings, and neuropsychological data, engage in differential diagnosis and treatment discussions, and examine relevant literature and clinical guidelines. The activity promotes evidence-based decision-making, interdisciplinary collaboration, and improved patient care for individuals with cognitive and neurological disorders.

Learning Objectives: 

By the end of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

1. Apply neuropsychological, neurological, neuroimaging, and laboratory findings to formulate and refine differential diagnoses for patients presenting with cognitive, behavioral, or neurological symptoms suggestive of neurodegenerative disease, including atypical and rare presentations.

2. Apply current research findings, consensus guidelines, ethical principles, and relevant social determinants of health to inform clinical decision-making and management strategies for patients with atypical or challenging dementia presentations.

3. Evaluate the roles of multiple healthcare disciplines in the assessment and management of complex cognitive disorders and utilize interdisciplinary consultation to identify appropriate referral pathways and support comprehensive patient care.
