Session Description

The family medicine series is protected educational time integrated into department meetings to serve as an accessible forum for the interprofessional team to learn from and with each other, share best practices, and stay abreast of emerging advances, the latest guidelines, and recommendations in primary care. Specialty speakers will focus on different topics every other month related to primacy care, often times utilizing case studies as an active learning strategy. The April session of this series will focus on "Updates in Hyperbilirubinemia".

Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Physicians (MD or DO)

Physician Assistant (PA)

Note to Other Disciplines: AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ Continuing Medical Education is acceptable for meeting the continuing education requirements for Pharmacists, Physician Assistants, Psychologists, Registered Nurses, and Respiratory Care Practitioners. For other disciplines, please check with the regulatory board for your discipline to confirm what type of credits meet the continuing education requirements. Continuing education hours for nurses accredited by ANCC, via Joint Accreditation.

 

Session Learning Objectives

  1. Summarize the clinical importance of hyperbilirubinemia.

  2. Identify and demonstrate timely response to signs and symptoms of hyperbilirubinemia.

  3. Discuss new AAP guidelines and recommended treatment options for hyperbilirubinemia.

  4. Adopt new guidelines, scientific evidence, and best practice recommendations shared through these meetings.

  5. Apply knowledge of new and emerging interventional strategies appropriate for primary care populations. 

  6. Acquire new information to identify implicit bias and better manage special patient populations, such as those with racial/ethnicity differences, gender differences, and substance abuse disorders.
