Description:
The purpose of this presentation is to educate attendees about different strategies for DKA treatment outlined in the updated ADA and ISPAD guidelines and current literature-specifically the two bag system and insulin overlap-that could help with improving patient outcomes and reduce risk of rehospitalization and mortality.

At the completion of this activity, learners will be able to:Recall DKA treatment goals.
- Define the two bag method system for treatment of DKA.
- Evaluate how the two bag method compares to traditional treatment methods and improves DKA patient outcomes.
- Discuss the importance of insulin drip and basal insulin overlap in improving DKA patient outcomes.
- Formulate a discharge plan for DKA patients that prevents rehospitalization and improves quality of life.
