Katya Shutaya has been with SRI since 2020. She currently serves as a primary occupational therapist on the CVA team. Katya’s passion for neurorehabilitation was first sparked during her clinical doctoral residency at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, California where she worked with complex stroke cases serving under-resourced communities.

In her current role, she focuses on innovative, evidence-based approaches to upper extremity recovery and functional mobility. Drawing inspiration from her practices in yoga and reformer Pilates, Katya is committed to integrating higher-intensity therapeutic activities into stroke rehabilitation.

Outside of the hospital, she’s often found engaging in her own high intensity training—keeping up with her two little boys, ages 4 and 1.
