Description:
Sepsis bundles represent key elements of care regarding the diagnosis and treatment of patients with septic shock and allow one to convert complex guidelines into meaningful changes in behavior. Compliance with sepsis bundles remains 65-75% throughout Sutter Health. This virtual grand rounds lecture serves to educate and inform learner populations on recognizing sepsis and its various stages, early treatments, and therapies used to reduce mortality rates as well as the common barriers that prevent us from providing rapid delivery of care.

Upon completing this activity, learners will be able to:
1.) Recognize patients at risk and being able to differentiate between SIRS, Sepsis, Severe Sepsis and Shock.
2.) Identify early therapies including appropriate antibiotics, adequate fluid resuscitation, vasopressors, and other advanced therapies.
3.) Overcome common barriers and best practices to implementing the early sepsis management bundle.
