Adam Dougherty, MD, MPH
Adam Dougherty, MD, MPH is a Board-certified Emergency Physician and the Chief of Emergency Medicine at Sutter Medical Center Sacramento. Dr. Dougherty has dedicated his career to physician leadership and advocacy in the practice of medicine and patient health care access at the local, state, and national levels. He is the current President of the Sierra-Sacramento Valley Medical Society (SSVMS) and serves on the Board of Trustees of the California Medical Association (CMA). He is also the President-elect of the California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). Prior to his medical education and residency at UC Davis Health, he obtained a Master of Public Health from the USC Keck School of Medicine and following was the Policy Director for an L.A.-based health policy think tank dedicated to insurance expansion for the uninsured and health reform. He is an appointed member of the HCAI Office of Health Care Affordability (OHCA) Advisory Committee and previously served on the AMA Council on Science and Public Health. Dr. Dougherty has published numerous white papers, articles, and op-eds on health policy topics, served as a central clinical voice in the passage of Prop 35, and has testified before the State Senate. He lives in Land Park, Sacramento with his wife, April, and two young children, Dylan and Leo.
