Description:

This course is designed to address the shortage of experienced clinical researchers within graduate medical education programs, equipping faculty with essential skills to mentor trainees in research. Participants will learn to design and analyze various study types, including case-control, cohort, randomized trials, and diagnostic test studies, while mastering key epidemiologic concepts such as validity, bias, confounding, and statistical significance. Through weekly readings and hands-on proposal development, attendees will produce their own research proposals and gain expertise in critiquing medical literature. By the end of the course, graduates will be prepared to guide residents and fellows in research design and execution, strengthening the quality of clinical research across

Target Audience

Physicians (MD or DO)

6. Describe how disease spectrum affects test performance.
7. Explain what a clinical prediction model is and its purpose.

2/11/2026
1. Analyze examples where bias or reverse causality affects study conclusions.
2. Evaluate the effectiveness of different confounding control methods.
3. Describe the components of DAGs, including colliders, shared effects, mediation, and suppression.
4. Evaluate implications of effect modification for study interpretation.

03/11/2026:
