0834_SHVGR_Advanced Organ Transplant Eligibility_Live
Description:
This session addresses an important gap in transplant care: many centers lack clear, research-based guidelines for helping transplant patients manage their weight. Speakers will discuss how using BMI cutoffs alone may unfairly exclude good transplant candidates and will share better ways to evaluate each patient's individual health and readiness for transplant. The presentation will cover what we know about different weight loss treatments and when they can be safely used before and after transplant. Through real patient examples and practical discussions, participants will learn how transplant teams and weight management specialists can work together to help more patients access transplants and achieve better long-term results.
