J. Phoenix Smith, MSW, LCSW-A, is a public health strategist, facilitator, and consultant with more than 20 years of experience advancing health equity, HIV and sexual health, mental health, and community-centered approaches to wellbeing. She has worked across healthcare systems, government agencies, universities, and community-based organizations at the local, state, and national levels.

Phoenix previously served as Director at the Alameda County Office of HIV Care and currently works in public health leadership and consulting, supporting initiatives focused on health equity, systems change, community engagement, and collective wellbeing. She is the founder of EcoSoul Consulting LLC and the creator of Liberation Ecotherapy®, a framework exploring the relationship between nature, mental health, collective healing, and social justice.

Her work integrates public health strategy, healing justice, equity, and culturally grounded approaches to care, with a focus on communities disproportionately impacted by chronic illness, trauma, and health inequities.
