Graduated from Lake Forest College in Illinois Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Chemistry with Honors, part of the Richter Scholar program, and successful defense of a senior thesis in Organic Chemistry with distinction. Worked as a synthetic organic chemist for the Oronite chemical company and was listed on several national and international patents for novel chemicals that were turned into internationally distributed products. Attended Chicago Medical School in Illinois and inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Attended Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. Received the annual outstanding teaching award in the Internal Medicine Clerkship for the USC Medical School. Attended Hematology and Oncology Fellowship at the University of Southern California and conducted research on plasmablastic lymphoma and diffuse-large B-Cell Lymphoma.
