Mary Baracco, APRN, CNM, WHNP, PHN, LC
Mary has spent her career supporting growing families. She’s delivered countless babies as a CNM over many years and also spent over 20 years in Early Childhood Education. She worked in Public Health MCAH in both Napa and Trinity Counties and has worked extensively with parents and professionals. She was the Coordinator for Welcome Every Baby, a community wide home visiting program for all new families in Napa, CA
She started her educational journey at Napa Valley College, earning an A.A. in Liberal Studies, A.S. in Early Childhood Education and her ADN in Nursing (RN). She went on to earn her graduate certification at UCSF/SFGH Interdepartmental Nurse Midwifery Education Program as a Nurse Midwife and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in Dec. 1996. She became certified as a Nursed Midwife through the American College of Nurse Midwives in Jan. 1997. She completed her BSN at Pacific Union College.
Her sub-specialties include: Perinatal Mood Disorders (including Edinburgh perinatal screening), Tongue-tie, insufficient milk syndrome, and Postpartum Health. She completed T. Berry Brazelton's Touchpoints Training & the Infant Parent Mental Health Fellowship certification course (featuring Dr. Ed Tronic, PhD, Joshua D. Sparrow MD, Bruce Perry MD, and other international Luminaries) She completed specialized training in ACEs - Adverse Childhood Experiences. She practices Trauma Informed Care, and is knowledgeable in the SDOH - Social Determinants of Health.
Mary has also had the honor of teaching and mentoring the next generation of Nurses by teaching in Health Occupations at Napa Valley College, in the ADN (RN) program and as the Director of the LVN program's final co-hort. She also taught managing emergency birth to Paramedic students.
She led the Napa Valley Breastfeeding Coalition as President for eight years and has more than 35 years of experience helping and supporting families with breast/chestfeeding - including10 years as a CLS, and she is post 20 years as an IBCLC.
Mary is a contracted Perinatal Consultant at Partnership HealthPlan. In the last year she has been an active participant in the core team that developed content and presented 10 Webinars on perinatal issues to enhance the knowledge of Doulas, Case Managers, and Perinatal Educators.
She lives in Napa, CA with her husband. She has four wonderful grown children and 2 grandchildren she adores. In her spare time she love to read, cook and hang-out with her 2 cats, 1 dog and 4 chickens - and of course her beloved family!
