1045_SHSO_Teaching Trainees Through the Patient Experience Lens_Live

November 11, 2026

Description:

Patient experience is shaped not only by the clinical care delivered, but also by how patients are welcomed, heard, informed, supported, and prepared for what comes next. This presentation introduces faculty to the foundations of patient experience, how patient feedback is measured, and how experience data can be used responsibly to support learning and improvement. Participants will explore the ONE Sutter Way’s three-step communication practice: Warm Welcome, Narrate Care and Services, and Fond Farewell. Through lecture, clinical examples, guided reflection, and brief discussion, faculty will learn practical approaches for modeling, observing, and coaching the specific behaviors that strengthen trust, communication, empathy, and connection across the clinical encounter.
