March 21, 2025

Description:

Fatty liver disease has long been a widespread yet under-addressed condition, with limited treatment options beyond weight loss recommendations. However, recent advancements in diagnostics and newly approved medications have transformed the landscape of care. Despite these developments, a significant gap remains in the understanding of how to appropriately evaluate and manage these patients, both at the primary care and GI levels. This presentation will provide an overview of the latest epidemiological trends, pathophysiology, and newly released guidelines from the past year. It will also cover essential aspects of the referral process, diagnostic testing, and emerging treatment options. Additionally, we will discuss the impact of social determinants of health (SDOH) and implicit bias in the management of fatty liver disease.

Target Audience

Physicians (MD or DO)
