Edward Kersh
Edward Kersh, M.D., is the former Chief of Cardiology at St. Luke's Hospital, San Francisco, and is a Clinical Professor Emeritus of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.
Dr. Kersh was born in New York and attended the State University of New York. He moved to San Francisco in 1972 to complete his training in cardiology, and then worked at San Francisco General Hospital until 1980, when he joined the staff of California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC), where he has served as Chief of Echocardiography and Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation. In 2001, he was appointed Chief of Cardiology at St. Luke's Hospital, which is affiliated with CPMC.
Dr. Kersh is an active teacher of cardiology fellows and medical students and has been honored with the Kaiser Teaching Award as Volunteer Teacher of the Year at UCSF, the AOA Gold Headed Cane Award, and Teacher of the Year Award at CPMC. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology and echocardiography.
Dr. Kersh retired from clinical practice and became Medical Director for Telehealth at Sutter Health in 2015. He is now Medical Director for Home Health with Sutter Care at Home. He is also a medical consultant for several biotechnology companies, an active lecturer. Dr. Kersh has a special clinical interest in the care of patients with heart failure and the problem of 30-day readmissions.
