Course Description

The COVID-19 pandemic stressed medical systems and forced hospitals to allocate limited resources, such as Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO). This resulted in health care providers making difficult life and death decisions. In this presentation, we will identify challenges faced in ECMO care during the pandemic, discuss strategies used to improved candidate selection and allocation, and outline lessons learns that may be applicable in the future.
