The clinical leadership excellence program as a whole is implemented to provide new and existing physician leaders with skills and strategies needed to succeed in their roles using the 4 E’s of Exploration, Education, Exposure, and Experience. This series of 90-minute modules, occurring approximately once a month throughout the year for a total of 13 sessions, includes pre-work before each module and case-based discussions to promote active learning strategies. The program also includes a special focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with the principles of DEI integrated into all modules where leaders can identify, describe, and demonstrate inclusive behaviors.

This module addresses legal issues related to human resources, implementation of performance improvement plans, and identification of when Professional Affairs Committee involvement is necessary.

Program features:

• Incorporate adult learning styles – combination of didactic, exercises and interactive learning

• Facilitated by internal subject matter experts (both physicians and operational leaders)

• Designed to address competencies needed based on physician leader job descriptions

1. Identify and utilize resources to help manage Human Resource Issues.

2. Identify personnel situations when Professional Affairs Committee must be contacted.

3. Describe the process to implement a performance improvement plan

4. Define what accountability means in relationship to leadership and management of HR issues
