0585_EMC_Nursing Grand Rounds: Outsmarting Unconscious Bias in Healthcare_ Live
Description:
This one-hour session will explore the role of unconscious bias in healthcare and provide practical strategies for mitigating its impact. Unconscious or implicit bias refers to automatic associations and attitudes that shape our perceptions and influence behavior, interactions, and decision-making without our awareness. These biases can affect how healthcare providers process information about patients, leading to unintended consequences in patient care and interactions among healthcare teams. By the end of the session, participants will be able to distinguish between implicit and explicit bias, understand the potential effects of unconscious bias on both patient care and healthcare staff dynamics, and apply strategies to reduce its negative impact in clinical settings.
Target Audience
Nurse Practitioner (NP)
Nurse, Registered (RN)
Physicians (MD or DO)
Other Healthcare Professionals
