0746_PAMF_ It’s a Team Sport but What is the Surgeon’s Role in Enhancing Patient Safety to Avoid Errors in the Operating Room_Live
Description
This course is part of the risk education series. This series focuses on improving informed consent documentation and surgical practices to enhance patient safety and reduce the risk of legal issues. It covers key strategies for informed consent conversations and helping clinicians avoid potential lawsuits and ensure optimal patient care outcomes. This specific session explores the crucial role of the surgeon in promoting patient safety and preventing errors in the operating room. Through real-world case studies and a review of current legal frameworks, participants will examine best practices for informed consent, avoid medical battery, and understand the implications of the “captain of the ship” doctrine. The session emphasizes interdisciplinary communication, legal responsibilities, and recent changes to MICRA legislation that may impact surgical liability and litigation strategies.
