Description:
Refusal of Treatment: Exploring Options in Patients with Mental Health Issues. This webinar will focus on understanding ethical considerations in patient's right to refuse medical care. Attendees will learn how to address and navigate challenging patient care situations by learning skills and verbiage to utilize in such situations, understand provider obligations and provide clarity on how to develop an ethically appropriate plan of care.

2. Analyze case studies concerning whether patients may refuse care on the basis of what is determined to be medically or ethically appropriate.
3. Implement effective communication strategies for patient/surrogate conversations about provider obligations in the setting of active patient refusals.
