Microscopic Image of a Bone Lesion

0836_SHVGR_Beyond Sarcoma_Live

February 4, 2026

Description:

This virtual grand rounds lecture addresses critical gaps in the diagnosis and management of pediatric bone lesions and adult metastatic bone disease by equipping clinicians with evidence-based strategies to expedite appropriate referrals and optimize patient outcomes. Participants will learn to recognize indications for orthopedic oncology consultation, understand when imaging studies should be deferred pending specialist input to avoid unnecessary delays, and identify patients who may benefit from advanced interventions such as prophylactic fixation for impending pathologic fractures. By the end of this session, attendees will be able to initiate streamlined, multidisciplinary workups that reduce time to definitive care and improve resource utilization for patients with benign pediatric tumors and metastatic bone disease.

Kyle Walker, MD, MBA, faculty for this presentation, reports the following financial relationships within the past 24 months: receipt of a Sponsored Traveling Fellowship Grant from Onkos (ended August 31, 2024); ownership interest in Runatek/Rxtxt, a pre-revenue medical device startup developing an opioid drug delivery device for postoperative pain management; and service as an independent contractor (Op-Med Writer) for Doximity. Doximity is not an ineligible company as defined by ACCME. The ownership interest in Runatek/Rxtxt was reviewed and determined not to be related to the content of this activity (pediatric bone lesions and metastatic bone disease management); therefore, no mitigation was required for that relationship. The prior relationship with Onkos was determined to be related to the content area but ended in 2024 thus no mitigation is necessary.
