Description:
This course is designed to support nurses progressing toward clinical competency in critical care settings. The curriculum emphasizes advanced knowledge and skills, including ABG interpretation, ventilator management and troubleshooting, RSI and airway management, EKG and 12-lead analysis for acute coronary syndromes, hemodynamic assessment and vasoactive drip titration, and evidence-based interventions for deteriorating respiratory and cardiovascular patients, while reinforcing teamwork, communication, and role clarity for nurses caring for critically ill patients.

Learning Objectives
By then end of this activity, learners should be able to:
1. Compose a systematic approach to assess critically ill patients
2. Evaluate priority interventions for patients with respiratory distress, respiratory failure, hemodynamic compromise, and common cardiovascular conditions in critical care environments
3. Demonstrate nursing care for patients requiring RSI and mechanical ventilation
4. Evaluate ABG results for acid-base, ventilation, and oxygenation abnormalities
5. Contrast common heart rhythms and dysrhythmias
6. Compare common complications and the plan of care for patients with an MI
7. Analyze the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and plan of care for patients with shock, heart failure, and acute coronary syndromes
8. Analyze appropriate treatments for patients in shock based on their hemodynamic assessment and information from hemodynamic monitoring
9. Evaluate dynamic assessment of fluid management using NICOM and/or FloPatch
10. Assess resuscitation and evaluate the priorities of care for a hemorrhaging patient
11. Determine resuscitation for a patient with a respiratory or cardiac arrest following ACLS guidelines
