0946_SHU_Specialty Service Line - Fundamentals of Facilitation_Live- 9/30/26
Description:
Clinicians and care team members within the Sutter’s Specialty Service Lines play a critical role in delivering patient facing education through group medical visits, prenatal education, and shared learning experiences. As these models continue to expand, there is an opportunity to intentionally enhance facilitation practices that promote engagement, psychological safety, and meaningful participation among patients and care teams. This four hour Fundamentals of Facilitation course is designed to strengthen facilitation skills that support effective, patient centered group education. Participants will explore facilitation as a purposeful approach to guiding group learning, supporting shared decision making, and fostering connection and trust within diverse patient populations. The course emphasizes practical strategies that align with the specific specialty service line goals and support scalable, team based models of care. Through interactive discussion, reflection, and applied practice, learners will refine techniques to engage participants, respond to group dynamics, and adapt facilitation approaches in real time. The focus is on enhancing the quality and impact of patient facing education by creating supportive learning environments that encourage participation, reflection, and behavior change.
