Christopher Clapp, BSN, RN, NE-BC

Christopher Clapp, RN, BSN, NE-BC, is an accomplished nurse executive with over a decade of experience in multidisciplinary critical care at UC San Diego Health. He currently serves as Director of Clinical Effectiveness and Interim Director of Analytics, where he leads initiatives to reduce inpatient length of stay and enhance patient safety through data-driven strategies. With a strong academic background in nursing and biology, Christopher has held key leadership roles, including ICU Lead Manager and Assistant Nurse Manager, where he developed predictive staffing tools, quality assurance programs, and culturally informed educational materials. Under his leadership, the ICU earned the prestigious AACN Beacon Award for Excellence, recognizing the unit’s commitment to a healthy work environment and high standards in patient care. He is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Nurse Executive Board Certified, and co-author of a study on nurse mental health and suicide prevention during the COVID-19 pandemic. His leadership is defined by a commitment to continuous improvement, regulatory excellence, and empowering clinical teams.
