The SCCM Southern California Annual Symposium 2025 is a dynamic conference focused on advancing critical care through innovation, collaboration, and education. This year’s theme centers on key transitions in ICU care, strategies to foster professional fulfillment and resilience, and the transformative role of artificial intelligence in healthcare, among many other timely topics. Our speakers will share evidence-based strategies designed to enrich the critical care practice environment. Presenters include distinguished local, national, and international experts from a wide range of disciplines, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and research scientists.

By the end of this learning activity, participants will be able to:
1) To Differentiate the role of surgery versus anesthesia versus ICU in patient handoffs
2) To Describe the impact of effective communication on a multidisciplinary and multiprofessional handoff.
3) To Recognize the importance of handoff choreography in reducing preventable adverse events in healthcare.
4) Discuss the real-world pros and cons of using AI to support wellness in critical care, including issues of trust, overdependence, and preserving human connection at the bedside.
5) Explore how AI tools can reduce cognitive load and ease documentation burden in the ICU, freeing up time and mental energy for direct patient care and team communication.
6) Identify common individual and organizational drivers of burnout and diminished professional fulfillment among critical care professionals.
7) Describe system-wide interventions that institutions can implement to promote clinician well-being, including workflow optimization, peer support programs, and leadership engagement
8) Develop an initial action plan tailored to their role or institution that integrates both individual and system-level approaches to improve professional satisfaction and sustainability.
9) Identify common individual and organizational drivers of burnout and diminished professional fulfillment among critical care professionals.
10) Discuss evidence-based individual & system-wide strategies for building personal resilience and promoting clinician well-being.
11) Define moral injury in the context of critical care medicine and analyze case-based ethical dilemmas that contribute to moral injury.
12) Develop strategies for early recognition of moral injury through collaborative dialogue and explore institutional and personal pathways to moral resilience
13) Understand the prevalence and factors contributing to pharmacist burnout
14) Describe personal and institutional strategies to promote pharmacist wellness
