Description: 

This grand rounds educational activity examines psychoanalytic approaches to the treatment of chronic psychosis, using a complex patient case to illustrate key concepts. Participants will learn to differentiate between psychotic and neurotic anxiety and explore effective strategies for supporting patient progress in therapy. The session will also address how social determinants and implicit bias can influence diagnosis and care. Attendees will gain practical insights to enhance their therapeutic skills when working with individuals experiencing chronic psychosis.

3. Recognize how the therapist’s use of these ideas enabled the patient to make significant progress over a period of two years.
