0809_PAMF_IP Series_ Exposure Investigations, Working with Employee Health_Live
Description:
This session translates up-to-date, evidence-based guidance for preventing infections in the OR and invasive procedural areas (e.g., interventional radiology, cath lab, endoscopy). We will connect persistent practice gaps and equity concerns to practical fixes, then operationalize sterile technique, procedural traffic control, and device reprocessing into checklists and rapid audits. Participants will map strategies from the 2023 SHEA–IDSA–APIC SSI Compendium to their local workflows and documentation and apply them to both OR and non-OR settings. We will also address social determinants of health and implicit bias—how neighborhood vulnerability and clinician bias can influence perioperative care—and identify steps to mitigate these effects in day-to-day practice.
