Dr. Merriman went to medical school at University College Dublin, Ireland and was a Resident, Chief Resident and Fellow in Gastroenterology at Washington University in St Louis. He complete a Fellowship in Hepatology at UCSF where he continued on faculty for several years. He is a board certified in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology, working with the Sutter West Bay Medical Group for over 15 years. He currently serves as Medical Director for Liver Transplantation at California Pacific Medical Center and the Director of Metabolic Liver Disease Research. Dr. Merriman is active researcher for over 24 years in the field of NAFLD and site co-investigator on many clinical trials in NAFLD and other areas of hepatology.
