Katayoun Lotfi, MD
Dr. Katayoun Lotfi is an obesity medicine specialist with fellowship training in obesity medicine and endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. Since December 2018, Dr. Lotfi has served as the founder and department chair of the Adult Weight Management Department at Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group (PAMF), where she established one of the Bay Area’s first integrated, physician-led programs dedicated to comprehensive, evidence-based obesity care. Under her leadership, the department has grown into a multidisciplinary initiative that bridges endocrinology, nutrition, and lifestyle medicine.
Dr. Lotfi earned her medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed her Internal Medicine residency at Lahey Clinic (Tufts University affiliate). She subsequently completed fellowships in Clinical Nutrition and Obesity Medicine at Boston Medical Center and in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at Stanford University Medical Center. She is a member of Endocrine Society and the Obesity Society. Her clinical and academic interests lie at the intersection of endocrinology, nutrition, and behavioral medicine, emphasizing sustainable, long-term strategies for weight and metabolic health. Dr. Lotfi has published research and clinical reviews in obesity medicine, metabolic disorders, and chronic disease management, contributing to the advancement of individualized and multidisciplinary care models.
