Dr. Mora is a medical intensivist at UT Southwestern Medical Center – Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas.   His passion is serving vulnerable populations, championing health equity and serves as an expert in the care of the critically ill obstetric patients as well as critically ill transgender patients.  His advocacy for equitable medicine in vulnerable populations has led him serve as the Vice-Chair for LGBTQ+ Interest Group at CHEST (rising chair), he is an active member of the Health Equity Group with the American College of Chest Physicians, serves on the Scientific Program Committee for CHEST 2026 and he is an Member of the Fundamental Of Critical Care group for Obstetric Critical Care for the Society of Critical Care Medicine which oversee the International Course on managing Critically Ill Patients.  He is a sought-out speaker on obstetric critical care topics and was recently asked to be a guest on the #1 critical care pod cast: Critical Care Time to discuss obstetric emergencies.

He trained at the Texas Medical Center, in Houston, Texas, and after having completed a dual residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, he completed fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care at UT Houston – MD Anderson Cancer Center.  He is an associate professor of medicine with the UT Southwestern Medical School where he was awarded the teaching excellence award during his first year on faculty from over 750+ faculty candidates which was follow up the next year by being awarded the outstanding research mentor – he is the only faculty on staff to hold the distinction of being awarded these recognitions back to back.

He previously was an associate professor with the Texas A&M Medical school and core faculty at Baylor University Medical Center.  Prior to joining UT Southwestern, he was the Chief of Critical Care Services for a hospital system in Columbus, Ohio.  Prior to that he previously served as the associate program director for the pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Baylor as well as the course director for critical care.  He has won teaching awards for the medical education he provides for medical students and residents.   He has lectured and presented at both the local, national and international level on both pulmonary and critical care topics.  He is married to his wife, Leah, and they have two children, one a playwright/actor  in NYC and the other an actor in Dallas. He is an avid supporter of the arts and serves on artistic boards.
