Sean Lau, MBA, BSN, RN, VA-BC
Sean Lau is a board-certified Vascular Access Specialist with over a decade of experience in vascular access device (VAD) insertion practice, care and maintenance. He currently serves as the Patient Care Manager at Stanford Health Care, where he oversees the clinical and administrative responsibilities for the vascular access and specialty procedures teams. Known for his commitment to advancing evidence-based practice, Sean co-chairs his hospital's CLABSI Prevention Taskforce, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration to improve patient outcomes.
Sean has lectured extensively at local, national, and international levels on critical topics such as ultrasound guided IV insertion, CLABSI prevention, and effective team building. He holds a bachelor's degree in nursing and physiology, as well as a master's degree in business administration. In addition to his educational background, Sean chairs the Clinical Review Team for the Association for Vascular Access (AVA), where he contributes to the development of best practices in the field. He is also the CEO of SJC Vascular Access, an AVA partner focused on enhancing nurse competency validation and education, underscoring his commitment to improving patient care and safety in vascular access practices.
