Deborah is a Registered Nurse for the last 34 years. She graduated from Loma Lind University School of Nursing in 1990. She is currently working at as a Staff Nurse III at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital, in Auburn, CA., and is working in Perioperative Serivices. 

Deborah started her nursing career working in various hospital units including ICU, Cardiovascular surgery ICU, stepdown, ER, oncology, and pediatrics. She quickly began to have an affinity for working in the Emergency Department. She worked for 5 years at a Level 1 trauma center in the Pediatric and Adult ER at Loma Linda University Hospital. She started teaching clinicals to students at Loma Linda University while working on her Masters in Nursing program. Teaching students and patients became a favorite part of her job. 

In 2002, Deborah moved to Auburn, California and started working at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital in their Emergency Department. She enjoyed the wide variety of patients and families that she met there.  After 22 years, she switched to working in PACU and Pre-Op/Ambulatory care areas.

After experiencing the challenges with teaching patients in post op care and medication instructions, she began developing a tool to help educate patients and improve comprehension of their perioperative care.

Deborah worked collaboratively with perioperative partnership counsel, physicians, patient advocates, and home health professionals to design a teaching tool to help improve the discharge education of the patients that came to Auburn Faith Hospital for their surgical care. 

When Deborah is not at work, she is an avid watercolor artist whose paintings have been shown in the hospital here at Auburn. She is also active with her family's adventure trips and involved with costume design for a local school's drama program.
