Maricris Garaza, MSN, RN, PHN

With over a decade of experience in various Operating Room environments, my expertise spans Critical Access hospitals, Ambulatory Outpatient Services, and Acute Inpatient Care. I spent a significant portion of my career as a Circulator in the Main Operating Room of a Level II Trauma Center, specializing in the Open-Heart team and also performing scrubbing duties until September 2022. During this time, I also served as a Clinical Nurse Educator, training new perioperative nurses and those transitioning into the field.
In September 2022, I transitioned to a role as Clinical Nurse Educator III and Simulation Lab Coordinator at Sutter Memorial Medical Center Modesto. My current focus is on establishing a cutting-edge Simulation Lab to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals, collaborating with various departments to ensure it meets the diverse needs of the medical center.
Before nursing, I worked in Social Work, supporting a grant-funded after-school program aimed at helping underprivileged students achieve high school graduation, often as first-generation graduates. I also engaged in non-profit efforts, organizing a Fashion Show for at-risk youth and co-facilitating a women's support group at a Domestic Violence Shelter.
With a strong foundation in both nursing and social work, I am committed to leveraging my diverse background to continue fostering growth and progress in healthcare, driven by motivation, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
