This psychiatry grand rounds session explores the complex issue of children rejecting contact with their parents, focusing on the identification and differentiation of parent/child contact problems such as parental alienation, gatekeeping, and realistic estrangement. Participants will gain practical strategies to challenge common assumptions and apply evidence-based approaches for assessment and intervention, supporting improved outcomes for families facing these challenges.
